Meet the Runners!

Quinlan Low

"Hello, I'm Quinlan, and my journey is deeply intertwined with community engagement, inspired by the legacy of my Grandpa's involvement in the vibrant San Francisco Chinatown community. This upbringing instilled in me a strong sense of civic responsibility, and now I'm eager to bring my passion to support and enrich the community in New York Chinatown.

My connection with sports began at the age of 12 when I discovered a profound love for volleyball. This passion guided me through my collegiate years, where I dedicated myself to the sport. The lessons of discipline, teamwork, and resilience learned on the court have become fundamental to my character.

Understanding the transformative power of youth sports, I want to provide similar opportunities to future generations. My commitment is deeply rooted in personal experience and the belief that organized sports can positively influence the lives of young individuals. I envision creating accessible sports programs in my community that foster character development, teamwork, and a sense of achievement.

In pursuing to support New York’s Chinatown community, I am actively exploring ways to integrate my love for sports and community. Building on the legacy of my family's community engagement, I aspire to contribute to the community's well-being while providing valuable opportunities for youth development.

With a solid foundation in community service, a strong sports background, and a sincere commitment to making a positive impact, I am ready to contribute meaningfully to the lives of the youth in New York Chinatown."

Denise Carino

Hi! I'm Denise and in 2023, I found myself struggling with my health - physically and mostly mentally. I was not exercising and moving my body enough and the stagnancy pushed me to decide to do better for myself. Thus, I started running! It first started off with my weekly 5k route, then a push to 10k, and now I love a 10 mile Westside Highway Saturday morning run. The way running has not only greatly improved the way my body physically feels, but more importantly the wonders it has done for my mental health has been incredible. Running has also forced me to create weekly goals for myself to reach and always helps keep my health at the forefront of my mind.

Knowing this, I would love to give the opportunity to others to find a love in exercise and health as I have with running, whether it be through running as well or dance, basketball, and volleyball as the NYC Chinese Freemasons club offers. It feels great to not only be doing something for myself, but also to give back to the community of New York and help those within the Chinese community find athletic and exercise opportunities as running has done for me. As a Filipino immigrant myself, I also know the importance of keeping our Asian heritage and traditions strong. Having our cultures being represented within our communities in New York City emphasizes that and I would love to support that within the Chinatown community.”

Stephanie Davis

“Hey, everyone! I wanted to share a quick story about my running journey inspired by my dear friend Linda. She ran with me on my first race, turning it into an incredible journey. Despite being a novice, she supported me throughout, and I truly enjoyed every step, pushing myself in ways I never imagined.

I've now completed nine races, including two half-marathons and a 10-miler. Excitingly, I'll be tackling the NYC Marathon 2024 and aiming for the United Airlines Half. To secure my spot, I'm fundraising for CFMAC, and any contribution, big or small, would be highly appreciated.”

Jefferson Lin

“This year I have committed to run 3 races for charity. The United 1/2 marathon for the Chinese Freemason, the Brooklyn 1/2 and NYC marathon for Team For Kids.

These 3 races will challenge me both physically and mentally, especially the NYC marathon which I just qualified to run. These three races will allow me to fundraise to help underserved communities. Charitable causes are important to me because as a son of first generation immigrants I can see and feel the struggles of those in similar situations. I will feel fulfilled if my efforts can make even a small difference in someone’s life.”
